Hawthorn Woods is bordered by Long Grove on the east and southeast, Kildeer on the south, Lake Zurich on the southwest, and North Barrington on the west. The village covers an area of approximately 5.4 square miles, with approximately 3000 homes and is predominately a residential community.
Schools are highly regarded in Hawthorn Woods. However before buying real estate in any community, including in one of the Hawthorn Woods neighborhoods, it is important to check the school report card of the specific school to see if it fits the needs of your family,whether you live in the Estate of Subdivision or the Hawthorn Woods Country club.

Only 2 miles South East of Hawthorn Woods, you will find quaint shopping, great restaurants and unbelievable and unique boutiques in the adjacent town of Long Grove. Just a few miles away on its western border you can find other fine shopping in Deer Park. Stores include Best Buy, Crate and Barrel, Gap, Pottery Barn, etc
Recreational opportunities abound in Hawthorn Woods, with over eighty acres of parks within the village. Playgrounds are scattered throughout the area, among hiking trails, fishing piers, and ice skating arenas, sledding hills etc. If you live in Hawthorn Woods or perhaps visiting friends or family in the area, the Hawthorn Woods Summer Concert Series held at the Community Park is a wonderful place to visit with friends or family. Hawthorn Residents can also spend their leisure time golfing at a number of area courses or working out at the Foglia YMCA.
The Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center located at the corner of Midlothian and Marilyn Lane is a fun and refreshing place to spend the day in the middle of Chicago's hot summer. Last year our family had a spectacular time at this newly established aquatic center enjoying all the wonderful water slides. The Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center is also a fantastic place swim laps or take swimming lessons.
Hawthorn Woods is truly the perfect place for families who want to get away from the chaos of city life, and at the same time enjoy suburban conveniences.
