Buffalo Grove Fire Department Open House

Come Visit the Buffalo Grove Fire Department on Saturday, Sept. 25th for a Close-Up Look at a Day in the Life of a Firefighter

For all the little boys and girls in Buffalo Grove (and some of the big boys and girls as well) who have ever pretended to be a firefighter, this weekend is for you.  On Saturday, Sept. 25th, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department is holding their annual Fire Department Open House.  My kids and I have attended this event for the past two years, and I can tell you it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

My son was immediately taken in by the ride on the fire truck.  The line is a bit long, but absolutely worth the wait.  My daughter was even allowed to ride up in the cab with the driver and my son rang the bell!  There is a junior firefighter challenge, helicopter landing and more.  There is also a fire safety smoke house that teaches children how to crawl under the smoke if your house is on fire.  It was such a great day and both of my kids came away with new safety knowledge, a greater respect for our local firefighters and a full tummy (hot dogs and chips, yum!)

The open house runs from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. so there is plenty of time to work in a visit between soccer games and chores.  This is a great opportunity to introduce your children to some true heroes and enjoy a great fall afternoon outside.  Hope to see you at the Buffalo Grove Fire Department Open House!
