No need to apologize for success because it is our nature to compete.

I had to reblog this post since Richard Weisser is one of my favorite bloggers and the post was written so well.  As long as the players compete on a fair playing field, competition is good for everyone!

Via Richard Weisser Coweta Fayette Real Estate:

Competition is our nature! There is a school of thought that believes that competition is primitive, and that an enlightened society should strive to eliminate it in every form.

However, competition is one of the most intense natural instincts imbedded into the genetic program for animal survival, and that fact is inescapable.

As animals, we instinctively compete for food, for territory, and for mates most likely to produce healthy offspring. It is the underlying principle of natural selection that subconsciously motivates us into action.

One needs only to visit the local supermarket before a snowstorm to realize just how intense the natural urges control behavior well beyond the boundaries of rational thought as the shelves are stripped in a frenzy of unbridled hoarding.

Competition in business drives us forward, and allows the fountainhead of thought to continually move us forward in technology and marketing. And while we may cooperate when necessary, it is competition that inspires us to excel.

There is no shame in being the best in your field of endeavor. One need not make excuses for superiority.

After all, it’s our nature to compete!

There is no shame in being the best in your field of endeavor there is glory.  I will always cheer the one who has bloodied himself to do the best he can and out worked the rest of us or out matched me.  But I will compete and one day win.  I am a competitor.

It is difficult to understand that some would undermine the competitor.  For he is the one that keeps us moving ahead and doing things that seemed impossible before he did the impossible.

Competition is what keeps you sharp and ahead of the curve, unless you are lazy and let others surpass you.

I agree, we are out to win and those who are successful tend to be more disciplined. There is no reason to apologize for that.

Without competition we'd have no reason to strive to be better at what we do.

Great choice for a re-blog Judy.

Judy:  I love this post!  Thank you for passing it on .. and to Richard for writing it.  My wife and I helped form an athletic booster club at our local jr. high years ago because the administration of the school was trying to eliminate competitive sports from the school.  Competition is not a dirty word, but healthy if conducted right and within certain perameters.  Your post here illustrates that very point very eloquently.  Thank you ...
