Snow in Long Grove, a Northwest Suburb of Chicago, on December 1st... Does it make you feel glad or sad?
Two nights ago, as the beautiful snow was falling... I was captivated by many of its enchanting elements. The white large flakes hurling toward the ground created a peace in the air and a quietness I couldn't describe.
My children were looking at the same snowfall from a completely diffenent perspective. They were hoping that there was no school yesterday. They had received a text message on November 30th from one of their friends stating that for the last 2 years on December 1st, their school district 96 was closed due to snow. Unfortunately for my children, school did not close this year on December 1st
The irony of the story is that 2 hours before all of us witnessing the gorgeous and captivating snowfall, we were stranded on an airplane for 10 hours trying to get home from Florida. The 10 hour delay that very frustrating to say the least, was due to the beautiful snow!
For some of us snow means the beginning of a wonderful snow skiing season and to others it means shoveling, cleaning off your cars plowing driveways in the cold weather, and a huge mess! What does it mean to you! I'm sure you read Cosmo's face better than I do. I saw the puppy and said "uh-oh". I know my dogs were never pleased with their first ever snowfall.
Definately SAD!
(that I'm not skiing in it!!)

I would guess the 1st snowfall makes you feel glad and the following ones makes you feel sad.
Judy,
I'm originally from Chicago and last lived in Wheeling, so I'm very familiar with Long Grove and snow. I fondly remember the 'yellow ice skating rink' my poodle had to 'skate' on until the next thaw. I have no fond memories of snow plows and shovels. ;-)
Cosmo looks like s/he might be a red toy poodle. If so, I'll be happy to introduce him/her to my 1-year-old Gypsy. I wish you quick house training!

Judy~ my idea of skiing these days is sitting at the lodge, at the bottom of the slope, with something hot/alcoholic in my hand. My skiing days are over!
Cosmo is adorable! What a cute face!!
Hi Judy. Put me in the camp of those that love snow.
The more the merrier!
Ken
That is a very cute puppy. Enjoy the snow and make it a Happy holiday season.
Snow unfortunately is a necessary evil here. Personally, I wish it was fall all year long..... Cute puppy.
Hey Judy. Just pay attention to Cosmo and chill (no pun intended). You just have to enjoy life and not be so stressed, although that ten hour episode with the plane was no fun. Snow is wondrous!!
Cosmo looks happy in the snow...I've always loved it and do miss the beautiful winter scenes of Colorado where I lived before here in the South---the land of no snow and mostly only 2 seasons...I do understand the reasons to be tired of it some days, but the beginning snowfalls always seem so welcomed and exciting.
Cosmo is so cute! Zoey is loving this first snowfall as well - jumping around and sticking her nose in and trying to eat it. You can count me among those that do not like snow, it took me 1-1/2 hours to shovel out my driveway. Brrrrr...
Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
Vickie- you are probably right... Cosmo did look a little scared. However, he had a great time in the snow.
Mary- Yes, I enjoy skiing also, for about 3 hours and then I'm ready to drink hot chocolate and whatever and wait by the fire pit for the rest of my family
Michael- you hit the nail on the head. It gets old after a while
Hi Judy from Coldwell Banker, Cosmo is a mini golden doodle. He's a great puppy and almost house trained! We are lucky!
Lisa- I'm with you- but I'll ski greens for about 2-3 hours and then I'll meet you for a couple hot alcohol drinks!
Ken- this is why I like you/ you find the good in everything!
Bob and Carole- thanks, hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Dean- my favorite season is fall also!
Gary- I am enjoying life- why do you always pick on me!
Mara- The first snow is welcome, but after the first snow, its a royal pain and I'm afraid of falling on the ice all the time!
Kelly, Do you know of an indoor dog run? lol? I can't walk my dog in this weather. I'm freezing!
Yes, I had a great Thanksgiving- hope you did too!
Hi Judy,
We saw snow flurries here a couple of weeks ago---unheard of for this time of year in Eastern NC. We're crossing our fingers that we'll get a good snowfall this winter.
A 10 hr. delay is no fun!! :0(
Your new pup is adorable!!!
I only pick on people I love Judy!! : )
